I can’t seem to get a Mac (OS X), a Powertap, and TrainingPeaks Device Agent to all work together. TrainingPeaks Device Agent cannot seem to find the Powertap unit when it is connected to the Mac using the Powertap supplied cradle, USB connection, and the Powertap unit. The message that is spit out by TrainingPeaks is:
Attempting to configure and open USB Connection
Error: could not open serial port.
Error opening serial port USB Connection - No such file or directory(2).
As background, no issues at all using Poweragent software; the USB connection works fine with that. And, all of the drivers required by Trainingpeaks Device Agent are included in the Mac version of Poweragent (which runs fine).
Could you please tell me a bit more? What, exact, version of OS X are you running? What machine? What processor? Is it a PT USB cradle, or a serial cradle attached via a keyspan device or similar? My off the cuff guess is that you’re pointed to the wrong serial port, but that’s a bit tough to prove without knowing more stuff.
I just downloaded the Device Agent and pointed it to /dev/cu.usbserial-0000101D. Seemed to work like a charm.
Training Peaks Device Agent:
Version: 1.0
Last Modified: 7/19/07 2:48 PM
Kind: Universal
Location: /Applications/Training Peaks Device Agent.app
System Version: Mac OS X 10.4.10 (8R218)
Kernel Version: Darwin 8.10.0
Boot Volume: Macintosh HD
It appears as if there is not an issue if you are using the older Powertap that does have a serial interface; I have the Powertap that has the “straight” USB cradle and USB cable and TP DeviceAgent is not recognizing the fact that there is a USB connection (something Poweragent does not have a problem with).
