I’ve seen a few Under Armour ads featuring Macca (including the latest Runner’s World.) Strangely, none of the ads mention him by name, or even make reference to his record. Seems odd to me.
what record? you mean, being the one with the fastest run in Kona last year? ;- )
best second fastest run in 2006 Ironman Hawaii!!!
by record, i think the original poster meant his CV for his career.
CV? What is that, something he got while racing in Asia?
when’s your next race, are you doing that Olympic in Navy-town?
ARe you talking about the Annapolis Tri by CTA? If so that should be a great race, though swimming through Annapolis Harbor is going to literally stink. It’s like Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, only smaller, but with more crud and fuel.
Bob
yes…when is that one? i’m thinking of doing it.
Sept. 9th

Have they decided on which of the 2 swim courses they are using? at least with Option #1 we would only have to swim through the harbor once. with option #2 you get a double dose.
I do like the run and bike courses. Spend a decent about of time biking out that way on saturdays
September 9th in A-Town…CTA runs a GREAT race (See Columbia Tri) but the course for Annapolis has you swimming either (a) Escape style through the Harbor or (b) down the Severn River and back. The course depends on the weather and tides that day.
The bike is a pretty good one, but a bit boring, however going up Main St will be awesome as it’ll be about a wall of people and sound.
The killer part of the race is the run. The course uses about 6 miles of the Annapolis 10 Miler course and is a total bear with two .65 mile climbs over the Naval Academy bridge (8-10%) and other hills after the bridge. No rest at all on the course, but a great run course.

How about the fact that in runners world they are using macca to advertise, but have an ad for a marathon that takes place on the same day as IMHI…
That’s the Baltimore Marathon and UA as a sponsor has done a really good job of building it up as a great race in their hometown. 5,000 people in a half marathon and 4,000 in a full shows me that people are OK with the conflict.
Do we criticize the NYRR for having NYC on the same day as IM FLorida?
Bob
PS- As a matter of disclosure, I am the co-organizer of the pace groups for the Baltimore Marathon.
-NJ State Tri July 22
-a few local races (Northern VA) in August
-Chicago August 26
-Annapolis Sept 9
-Westchester Sept 23/24?
-US Open of Tri October 14
-SOMA Last weekend in October (maybe)
You better sign up for Annapolis, because rumor has it that it will fill soon. There are going to be some crazy fast other amateurs there, so we are going to have to run fast. No weak excuses for not showing up like you had at Columbia. The whole “I’m doing Ironman” doesn’t cut it buddy.
Actually, I can use that excuse again : P
.
I’ve got no issue with they fact they are advertising a race they support, I just find it a bit humorous that they print an ad featuring macca, with a ad for a race that Macca will definately not be competing in or even making an appearance at.
