Macca x Crowie this weekend

According to the website http://www.ironman703singapore.com, both are registered. The race is Sunday.
Who win this race ?

if they both start…I’ll go with Crowie nudging past Macca in the last mile of the run.

x2 for Crowie.

At the very least, Macca’s alternating arrogance/humility cycle leaves me somewhat indifferent towards his success, whereas Crowie seems to be a standup guy in every sense of the word. It’ll be an interesting precursor to Kona, though. Thanks for posting.

Yes they are racing on Sunday morning !

Should be a fantastic race. I am injured at the moment so will be watching from the sidelines , camera in hand.

Normally I would be quite disappointed to watch from the sidelines , but in this circumstance it may turn out to be a VERY entertaining day.

The event was shifted from a September start annually to a March date , Sunday being the first March race. Last September’s race was won by Simon Thompson , with podiums to Pete Jacobs and Peter Robertson.

The bike course is 85% freeway riding so it is a pretty damn fast course , although that also means no shade.

This week has been hot with rain in the very early mornings.

Will try and get some good pics up early next week.

Great weekend to all !

Ride safe

Macca is my pick. He has something to prove this year, and has proven to overcome dissappointment. So stop Hateinnnnnn!

I am presuming that you answered my last post out of convenience as I made no mention of who I favoured to win

Simon Thompson could be in the top 3 also if his build up has been good. But it will be great to see Macca and Alexander race head to head over this distance. Macca would have won Kona last year if it wasn’t for his dud bike. He has the most courage. Too bad The worlds previous best standard distance triathlete Peter Robertson isn’t there again this year or it would have been a competition of all the greatest triathletes.

Interesting to see Andrea Hewitt starting also. Haven’t seen her starting in any other non-drafting races but always expected to see it; she is strong on the bike but a hilly course may suit her better. Expect to see her top 3 but again there will be some new challenges for her in this race. If she picks the right 70.3 courses she will win for sure.

Here is last years Singapore 70.3 event in photos

http://www.triathlonshots.com/Singapore%2070.3.html

I happened to be looking over some tri magazines from the past few years and it definitely looks like in the past, Alexander has had better early-season form. In the results I was seeing from 07 and 08, when Crowie was winning, Macca was #2, #4, etc.

In fact, on his blog, Macca stated a couple days ago that he plans to “race himself into shape” over the next few weeks. That leads me to believe that his base is probably pretty good but he’ll be lacking the speed to win. I wouldn’t even be surprised if he was lower than #2.

Still, there is no one more exciting to watch race these day. Luc van Lierde is my favorite, but Macca certainly brings it!

Race being in Singapore in terrible humidity and high temperatures, whoever is more adapted to heat right now should win.
It is a terrible venue for people coming from cool weather training.

Macca is set to race in New Orleans on APril 5 so that is right as well.

Wow, I’m surprised you were allowed to get away with that!

Your not wrong about the heat and humidity

Although presently , Saturday afternoon 16.15 , it has just finished raining overcast and 29C.

Let’s see what tomorrow has in store !

Dont suppose anyone is covering this race? Ironmanlive or something?

Just had a look around IronmanLive.com. It looks to me as though they will have live coverage/athlete tracker.

The same guy who took some images for me last year said he is going to be there again this year. Is images were some of the best. link in my last reply to this thread.

It should be good. I like the way Macca talks. Like his "bring it on’ phrase for thsi season.
Also believe triathlon is a very tough sport so it doesn’t go everyones way all the time. it is the nature of it which makes it exciting to follow.
