McCormack lost by 71 seconds. Would he have won if he wore an aero helmet?
It’s possible.
He would’ve overheated and DNF’d ;^)
.
He would have came in 3rd if Chuck Norris was racing though…
(Seriously…this is my FIRST Chuck Norris reference EVER!!!)
Anyone who understands anything about wind tunnels, knows that whats good for one person, isnt good for everyone. lots of times aero helmets can be slower then you regular helmet, it comes down to how you hold you head.

No. Ferris was wearing one, that’s all that mattered.
Faris might have won if he shaved his beard. That had to slow him down at least 1-2 mph.

Anyone that understands anything about aerodynamics might disagree with that.

In pure Coggan-esque fashion, I will say that I have never seen data or heard anedoctal accounts that support what you just said.
Bueller???
Not worth it to give up the captain caveman look.
You and AC should write a book together, you can call it ‘Training and Racing with Paulo.’
That will truly making you the king shit of turd island.
Sorry, but you know that it’s brentl and not me that is the “king shit of turn island”. Don’t get me wrong, I am envious of that title, I wish I had it.
He didn’t stop to hang out with his family for 40 seconds during the run
.
Having been to the tunnels and seen how things work, i would have to say there is a little bit of gray area. You can change you postion to get your head in the spot for the helmet to work proporly. Or you can try and train you body to hold you heada certin way, but for most people who buy them these days its not instant speed.
Thanks.
**Macca would have won if… **
he had been 72 seconds faster! Over a race of that distance it comes to about a half second per mile. The last several races have indicated some of these guys are losing it on the bike. He needed to push a bit more on the bike instead of riding with the pack. The stategy of sitting in on the bike and winning on the run is not panning out.

You mean like it panned out for Lito?
Lieto doesn’t run a 2:46 marathon though. Shit, he doesn’t run a 2:56 either. One more rider with Macca and Lieto (like Faris), and they would have pulled it off…I really don’t understand why that wasn’t organized, other than the fact that Macca and others disrespected Normann’s run just a little too much.
Chris
There is a real BIG reason he didnt win!
He was not the worlds best on that day, and thats why we race!

he had been 72 seconds faster!
Maybe on paper. But had he been 72 seconds faster in all likelihood that would have pushed Normann to be a little faster. he wasn’t sprinting to the finish line. 72 seconds doesn’t sound like much in an 8+ hour day, but its a good distance. Had Normann seen Macca when he turned around and looked over his shoulder I’m pretty sure that would have motivated him to kick it up a notch.
