Macca chimes in?

Found the following post this morning from Macca on Fb:

My Specialized Bicycles is quick enough for any event I do, regardless of magnitude. Professionalism as an athlete is finding endorsement synergies that are right for you on all levels. You cant have your cake and eat it too. For all of you who have asked, THAT’s MY ANSWER. No more to say. No more messages please!

Does anyone have ANY idea what he’s talking about??

i know reading this part: “My Specialized Bicycles is quick enough” is driving me nuts… and i’m not even the Grammer police

Probably the Crowie/P4/Orbea thing.

i didn’t want to give my opinion on it, but been taking things off my wall all day and had more than 200 messages in my Facebook inbox about it. Thought this would be the best way to give my answer. I like these social platforms and I like communicating with everyone and helping out as many people as I can. You can see, I respond to everyones questions. But this issue is Crowies issue and to be honest I don’t really care. He is a big boy and only he knows his reasons. I would not have ever done it, and I am considered the controversial one. This being said, I think he would have won this race on any bike he chose. It was won in the run! Anyway thats my answer to all those people who messaged me and for all those people who may be annoyed because I took their posts off my wall. All I can say is that, Specialized makes great equipment from the bottom up, and on and off road. This was one of the reasons I formed a partnership with them. I want to make that very clear. They are the best hands down. Sometimes you need to pick the best equipment, not the best cheque book. Safe racing

I’d like to hear something from Alexander on all this-I’m starting to lose a little respect for him.

+1, I agree. Not a peep from CA and that’s a bit surprising.

Thanks for posting this, Nick. I didn’t go to his page, so I didn’t see this. Spelled it out clearly, didn’t he?

Agreed.

I’d like to hear something from Alexander on all this-I’m starting to lose a little respect for him.

He doesn’t owe you an explanation. The only people he owes an explanation to is Orbea.

I agree.

“I’D LIKE TO HEAR…”

While you’re right about WHO he owes an “explanation,” it would be interesting to hear the backstory.

". . . Not a peep from CA and that’s a bit surprising… . . "

Perhaps that is because he is a class act and isn’t going to “talk out of school.” Same thing with Slowman - he apparently has the story, but isn’t “talking out of school” either. I tend to respect that. That respect is enhance by their history. CA has a history of being a class act - anyone dispute that? Then, until we know the story why wouldn’t we assume the positive instead of the negative.

The insane number of posts with negative speculation is disappointing to me. Of course, I’m prejudice - last time I saw Crowie, CDA, he was the nicest guy to a gaggle of kids (3 were mine), including a disabled child. Of course that was consistent with every experience I have had with the guy, AND with everything I have ever heard about him.

He showed up to Worlds with a P4, a move his *LIFETIME *bike sponsor has said it did not condone. He already spoke out of school. I’m just looking for some context.

Thankfully we have Macca to tell us all about how he would handle the situation that he isn’t in.

Poor choice of words on my part. And you’re right about him not talking out of school, though I’m definitely not assuming a negative in this, quite the opposite in fact. Though the fact remains that this has to have an interesting backstory. With the level of professionalism at which CA conducts himself, what happened last weekend seemed a bit out of character. I respect CA(and Cervelo, for that matter) for keeping a lid on the situation unlike Orbea’s statement which seemed to only fuel the speculation. IMO, Orbea’s statement came across as too much of a reaction, when it may have been wiser just to keep quiet.

We are the people Orbea is paying him to market to. Someone should give an explanation (him or Orbea), it would be better from him though.

Macca’s response may have been a little out of frustration with all of the questions that were being posed to HIM about CA’s situation. All he really said was that it is CA’s to deal with but that he would not have done it himself. It’s not like he crucified CA, or at least I don’t see it that way.

"He already spoke out of school. "

You don’t know that, you speculate that. And, that is my point. If it is not proper to speak now, which it very well may not be (which is why everyone is speculating) it really is irrelevant what any of us are looking for, and I respect that. Of course, I would like to know the story too, but apparently it isn’t time yet or Dan would tell us too. I haven’t seen the *LIFETIME *contract, and I assume you haven’t either. Certainly Obea’s statement fueled further speculation, but they didn’t share any specifics. I don’t hold that against someone who has never in my opinion not been a class act (double negative intended for emphasis), that’s all.

When you know the real, full story please share.

+1. Completely agree with everythign you said here.

Thanks Nick. Like Macca said, Crowie won it on the run. But, I am confident he has his reasons for doing what he did, and the result stands. Easy to judge those racing at that level.

Can we talk about how fit he is and how he is going to win in Kona?
