Mac mini

Anyone have or has had one? Experiences? I am looking at going this route vs mac book pro- don’t need a laptop per se, just a solid pc. Plus it is slot cheaper than Mac book and I have peripherals to hook to it.

We have three at home and love them (Core 2 duo’s). They take up no space, absolutely quiet, very portable if need be. Only complaint is the CD/DVD on one of them went south just after Apple Care expired :frowning: but we hardly ever put anything in them anyway. Otherwise, excellent choice for a desktop/media server.

I have the 1.66 Core Duo and it does everything I need a much more. Coming up on 4 years old and not one single software or hardware flicker or hiccup. Bought one for my mom 2 years ago and she went from daily questions on how to make her Windows machine to work to now teaching me stuff about the Mac!

My friend runs one and loves it but he has gone through 3 cd/dvd drives in his. Latest one seems to have done the trick.

Thanks for the replies, I was concerned about the curent ones not having cd drives but when I think about it I rarely use my current one. Looks like thats the route I’m going.

The only issue I have is that I ran out of hard drive space pretty quickly, but I have a ton of pictures and videos on mine. An external takes care of that.

The new ones are truly amazing. Having an i5 or i7 instead of a core 2 Duo is a huge step up. Thunderbolt will give you all the hard drive expansion you’ll ever want. A great computer, and you’re right, you won’t miss the CD/DVD.
