Pretty shocking news. Colt’s season just went into the toilet in all likelihood. It’s exciting to have football (NFL and college) starting back up. I’m hoping to find the UH vs AZ game from last night on some sort of delayed broadcast.
Luck is a good man. I wish him and his family all the best. Much respect.

I watched the Gator game yesterday. Amazing they got a W with 3 turnovers due to Franks messing up. But as you said, good to have some football back.

Good for him. 29 years old. Class move by the Colts. Perhaps they are thinking he might change his mind in a year or two.
Pretty shitty response by the fans at the game- not sure that it being leaked was way he would have liked it to be known.
As a Titans fan, I am so happy - Luck dominated the Titans. As a FB fan I will miss him, he was a heck of a player and would have been a HOF’er. I am glad he chose himself and his family first…while we may not see him in uniform on the field we will see more of Luck in the future.
I agree - he was impossible not to genuinely like.
Payton Manning was great and all, but I liked Andrew Luck more. You never got the feeling that his hokey, nerdy persona was an act. And he could ball with the best of them. I only wish my Bills had been a little better a sucking in 2012 and gotten him.
BTW - the Colts are not allowed to draft any more world class quarterbacks. They’ve used up their quota.
There are a couple of videos of him where he gets hit hard and always congratulates the guy(s) hitting him. Class act dude for sure.

Football is a flawed sport. Some of the responses from “the inside” have been flagrantly obtuse. I love the game but I cannot help but think that the unwillingness by to accept reality will hasten its decline.
I like Luck a lot. The NFL is poorer for its loss of him.
There’s an obscure college highlight of him knocking out a (USC?) defensive back who was running back a Stanford RB’s fumble. The RB fumbled after maybe a five yard gain and the DB (his name is on the tip of my tongue - I’ll edit when it comes to me) picked up the ball and ran it straight upfield. Luck had a full head of steam straight down the line of scrimmage and earholed the DB. You could tell the DB was out cold for a second and, if memory serves, he fumbled the ball (recovered by SC, I think). It was a great illustration of Luck’s character, effort, intelligence, and athletic prowess.
If I recall, he has a degree in architecture or something like that. Whatever he does, he’s got a bright future and I’m happy for him.
Edit: It was Shareece Wright. I got the yardages wrong but Wright looked like he lost to a speeding freight train.

Not an architecture degree, but a related field. A BS in Engineering with a specialization in Architectural Design. Stanford doesn’t have an architecture school, his degree isn’t NAAB accredited nor is it an ABET accredited degree.
He’s have to work for 8 years in California before he could get licensed - and he couldn’t get his initial license in Indiana, Texas, or about 35 other states.
Or he could get a M.Arch in 3.5 years, but it’s not like grad school is an unreasonable expense for him

But thanks for the edumacation. I was not Stanford material so I was forced to seek my education at another Pac-10 school (Pac-10 back then).

I doubt many people who aren’t dumbasses could hold it against him though. He’s rich, he’s hurt, it isn’t getting better, he’s in pain, and he isn’t having fun. If I don’t need the paycheck, my job was causing me pain and I wasn’t enjoying it I’m not staying either.

Whoever made the decision to announce it when they did needs a crash course on public relations. That was not a smart move. Guess they expected a warm and fond farewell? Ooof! Misread that one.
Good for him. Get out while he is still (relatively) healthy. He’ll have more useful years in his brain and body that he can spend with his family. I’m sure he’ll find good success in whatever he pursues
