Lucero Outfitting Advice

Ok first time poster here as I recently discovered the site and have been enjoying the wealth of information here recently.

Picking up my new Lucero over the weekend. Have been riding a Trek Equinox 9 for the last three years and was due for a new bike and the large Lucero fits me perfectly 6’1 175lbs. It’s outfit with the Real Design Ultrasonic 40’s and don’t have any experience with this wheel set. Question for anyone who might know is are these wheels worthy of race quality or primarily use is training. Still have some budget left over and want to know should I try and upgrade the wheels with the LBS to a good race wheel maybe Zipps or keep the Ultrasonics and get a cheaper set for training.

Your infinite wisdom would be much appreciated !

The ultrasonics are the equivilant of the older Hed Jet’s. Reasonably aero, but they won’t be light.
40 is a reasonable depth for a race wheel, but I think on a uber sweet ride such as a Lucero, you’d be happier with something a little more aggressive.

If money’s no issue, I’d try a Renn Madria disc (www.rennmultisport.com) and a Hed 3 carbon or Stinger 90. up front.

Other wise, just pick up a Renn 575 for the back, and you’ll be set.
