i’m a die hard racer. i NEED a race to look forward to. i’m strongly considering LP next year. the only thing that is stopping me is the money. fronting 425 today (when i haven’t done my first im yet) is kinda tough to do… and, to qualify i’d have to travel to canada and do well at muskoka (since eagleman didn’t give out slots to my age group)
if i let the deadline pass for LP… i’m gonna need another race to do. anyone know of any GREAT LONG DISTANCE races between march and july of next year - on the east coast?
Muskoka is a great race and the slots were rolling like crazy this year. I had no problems getting a slot for IM Canada.
i hear its a great event… a friend of mine did it yesterday. i will be deciding in the next few hours if i will be doing it. so… no pussyfooting. like i said if money weren’t a problem i would have already entered. i can foot the bill but it will be tight.
that’s why i’m trying to check all my options…
what kind of time did you do? i’m around 5 hours for a half. 2:30 for an olympic.
My girlfriend had picked up a slot of IM Canada at Steelhead last year, so I was under the gun to get a spot. I focused on the race and busted out one of my best races ever. I went 2:54:43 for the 2k, 55k, 15k and won my age group and was first age grouper.
But like I said, the slots rolled down pretty far. I know the guy who was 48th or 49th in my age group got a slot for IM Canada with a 3:35.
i will be deciding in the next few hours if i will be doing it.<<
Only about 400 spots left as of about 30 minutes ago.
The lines this morning we unbelievable. There were more than 100 people in line for the Finisher’s Gear tent(guilty!) and by 830 there were a couple of hundred people lined up for 2005 registration. By the time registration opened at 10:00AM, there had to be at least 500 people in line. The line started inside the high school, went out the door, around the outside of the Olympic Oval, and halfway down the street that leads to Main Street between the Oval and the Training Center.
