Anyone else out there notice that when you place your bike on the trainer the seatpost height feels way too high? Also I notice that I’m less comfortable on the aerobars when on my trainer, why?

Have you tried using something beneath the front wheel to level the bike…
Yes, the phone book…still had to lower the post considerably.

Uh…Dave…no, you don’t.
Whatever you might “feel like”, the fact remains that the seat is just as high out on the road. I think the reason it feels higher at first is that the whole bike is a couple of inches higher on the trainer than when on the ground. Do not let this trick you into lowering your saddle. You will be training sub-optimally and using muscle patterns that you don’t use outside. Not good. Don’t do it.
And yes, for some reason the aero bars feel lower on the trainer. They’re not. Don’t raise them. Bad move.
You’re funnier than Mr. Tibbs, you should post more often
When you are riding outside, the wind exerts a force that pushes you backward and lifts your body off of the bars. The trainer feels different because these forces are not in play.
I don’t notice any difference with the seatpost, but I definitely feel more weight on the bars. As other posters suggest, you can put a phone book under the front wheel. Also, pedaling out of the saddle frequently keeps the blood flowing to the regions under increased pressure.
