Lowered front end...do I need to adjust my saddle?

I dropped my aero bars 1 cm. I feel like my saddle position is off now…I feel like I keep coming forward on the saddle. Is it common to bring the saddle forward a certain amount for each cm the front is dropped? Everything else remained the same. It seemed like 1 cm lower aero bars shouldn’t make a difference in saddle position. Hmmm

well, if you want to preserve your angles but just be more aero then:

when you dropped the front end 1cm…you should have lift the saddles and push it forward also. All this as to follow together.

That said, without a picture of your position, i would reserve my opinion…

One idea is to tilt the bars slightly upwards, to stop you from sliding forward. Your knee angle does not change with a lower bar but your hip angle does.

1 cm isn’t much, I can drop my body by shrugging my shoulders more than that. I wouldn’t change anything because of the change in drop.

Now if you had issues before that you may do what mortysct suggests and tilt the bars up slightly, that will also lower your armrests as well. A pict would really help though.

Are you sitting “ON” the saddle or ridding on the tip? I ask this because if you dropped your bars, you also could simply rotate forward and your hip angles stay about the same.

You might even tilt your saddle up slightly in front, but then lower it a little accordingly. You might also slide it slightly forward.

Honestly, sometimes you just have play with it a little until it feels right.

I actually like to feel like I’m sliding forward just a little and it’s a reminder that I need to rotate forward to push my torso forward to keep my back flatter.
