I’m looking for a low stack aerobar replacement for my 2014 SC 7. I think the 3T Mistral would work, but it doesn’t look too aero nor clean. I searched old threads and people suggest Felt Devox or old UCI illegal Vision bar but they don’t sell them anymore. Any suggestions?
How much money?
How wide are your pads?
What type of extensions do you like?
What adjustability do you want to have?
Zipp vuka stealth.
I see a lot of Devox bars on ebay and sometimes on here. Just biding your time you could probably score one.
You could get some low stack setups to your hearts desire if you didn’t mind a separate base bar from aerobars.
How much money? <$1000
How wide are your pads? I like them narrow
What type of extensions do you like? Doesn’t matter, whatever is fast. I do find S-bend more aesthetically pleasing than ski bends.
What adjustability do you want to have? Don’t need much, but I want as low as possible.
IMO the old Felt bars are nice. I have an aluminum version.
To go narrow with a super low stack you could drill new holes in the arm cups (to make it narrower), remove the short spacers on the cups, use shorter bolts… and you’d have the cups right on top of the aero bar section.
Or just use it the way it is… it’s still pretty low.
I picked up a Ventus a while back on Chainlove for my SC 7.0. Had to chop the tail with a hacksaw, but it’s fast and looks good.
You may be able to find a deal on one. I have seen a couple posed in the classifieds.

Actually to get narrow you simply flip the pads left for right. They are designed so they can touch in the middle if desired as we set up DZ at the 2008 Olympics on these exact non-UCI legal bars you’ve pictured above.

The problem with that is outside lip is then much less pronounced. I tried it and didn’t like it. I have aluminum cups so it was easy to just drill them.

That was done by design. As your arms move inward, almost touching the force of your upper body forces them outward in a rolling type motion. The outer lip is less pronounced so it does not dig into the forearm and cause discomfort.
Sounds like you’ve got 'em set up for you, which is great. Just wanted the OP aware drilling wasn’t needed for function but of course personal preference on pads/extensions is far beyond what one handlebar can do.
Cheers,
Dave
They look fantastic, exactly what I want. Why did they stop making them?
My guess is… things always change. The new fashion is for high stack adjustability, with the extensions attached to the cup clamps.
You should be able to find the carbon Devox in great shape for a very good price. I think they had UCI and non-UCI versions. Clamp is 26mm so you will need spacers if you use a 31.8 clamp stem.
3T Ventus
.
How can you call the Ventus “low stack”? Those pads are high high high when compared to something like the Devox.

I’m guessing that demand dropped below a reasonable volume to continue to make them. OEM production has moved on to the Bayonet3 bars on the DA and the new Daggerbar on the IA. They require special stems.
They were also not Di2 friendly in the non-UCI 42cm wide version popular with triathletes. The 39cm bar is Di2 compliant though.
you can buy the aluminum ones still:

The PRO bars can also be set up very low.
Their older versions are also quite low profile but not as adjustable.
Dave,
Any problems using the Devox bar pictured with hydraulic brake lines?

OK… TriRig Alpha?

Nope.
I have a Devox on my SC 7. Bought it off ebay for $250 or something and wet-sanded off the logos and clear-coated it. Combined it with a -17 stem and a low-stack dust cover… sorry about the crap pic

#2 behind the original Ventus. Excellent choice.
