Low Carb Diet/ Fat Burning Efficiency

Has anyone given some thought to whether the various law carb diets (atkins, south beach …etc) teach the body to burn fat more efficiently thereby providing some benefit to endurance athletes. The idea of a low carb diet seems counter-intuitive for endurance athletes.

Many articles on this years ago, here is what I remember. The body can be trained to burn more fat–but try to time a fat diet to exercise when you need 6 hours to process fatty things. Europeans seem to have more enzymes that burn fat. That’s why they can eat sauces high in fat late at night and not get fat. We can change our enzymes by doing the low carb thing. The articles talked about dudes who would fast for a few days and run a marathon. I remember they did alot of muscle biopsies to see the change in enzymes and they did see a change in those who cut back on carbs. Seems hard to time and the risk is high if you cant get energy digested in short order.

Fat burns in a carbohydrate flame!!! Thats what they say .Insidetri.com has some stuff about the low carb diet. I couldn’t eat like that . I love the vegggie and fruit thing.
