Louisville Loop

Hey, I’m going to Louisville this Saturday the 16th to ride the IM loop. I’m only doing the 75 mile loop, but I’ve been hearing stories about the locals not being very hospitable. So I’m leery about riding by myself. Anybody happen to be going that way to ride, that I could hook up with? I’m not very fast. I’m estimating that the ride will take me 5 hrs.
Thanks,
Amyfit

I have ridden those roads a lot and have never had a problem. Just realize that on US42 the speed limit is 55mph and stay to the right as far as you can.

I am going to be home this weekend for a wedding and am planning on riding the entire course, but will be riding faster than you. I am hoping to ride the course in about 6 hours. My brother in law are going to start at about 8am Saturday morning from the waterfront. If you want to start with us let me know and when we get our plans set I will let you know.

I’d love to meet up with you all at 8:00, even if it is briefly. LOL! I’ll be driving down from Columbus, so if you can give me a nearby address, I’ll mapquest the start.
Thanks,
amyfit

Amy,

Rode it 2 wks ago with a group (until I got dropped) and US42 is busy with very little shoulder. Keep to the right and you should be ok. If you’re by your self it may be easier since most of the traffic seemed to back up/get impatient when there was more than one. You’ll love that little out and back section. You see nothing on the way down, but you have plenty of time to see it on the way back up.

LOL!! Thanks for the advice and warning! I’m looking forward to doing it. I’d still like to have at least one person out there with me, just in case. But if it doesn’t happen, I figure that’s how the race will be. Alone with my ride and my thoughts. LOL!

I’m the tired old brother-in-law being recruited to ride the IM loop this Saturday. I’ll make sure Trimick gets his lazy butt out of bed and to the park by 8:30am. See you there? Look out for a Black Cervelo and a Blue Felt…

LOL!! 8:30 it is.
You said park, Trimick said Joe’s Crab Shack. Are they both in the same area?
I’ve got a little blue car and a red and yellow QR TeQuilo
See you all there.
Amy

Joe’s Crab Shack it is. They are right next door and Joe’s has good secure parking. See you then.

Looking forward to it!

Amy,

I ride the course or some part of it weekly. Like the other poster stated, highway 42 just after River Road is a bit busy for several miles but it’s doable. Traffic is’nt too bad on the rest of the course. I also plan to ride saturday ,will head out around 8:00 and will be doing easy pace. I’ll be riding from home (near Seneca Park) so I may hook up with you guys at the coffee shop at the end of River Road, if you’d like more company.

Amy,

A group from the local Tri Club is leaving Prospect at 10:00, doing the loop once. I know of several others also leaving earlier, from various starting points. If the group you start with breaks up, odds are you will come across these folks.

We have been riding sections of the course since February. In the past few weeks we are starting to see more and more out of town riders.

I might see you guys on River Road.

Ride Safe,
Scott

Scott, Rob and Andy riding with you?

We are leaving my house (me, Victor, Jo Ann, Cheryl, Monica) at 6:30am and doing 100. I live in Crescent Hill, about a mile or so where Zorn meets River Road at the Water Tower.

P, I am going to be in Louisville a week from monday through thursday or friday, we should get together for some training or a beer(s). Wednesday is out since that’s my anniversary and my wife and I are going to spend it together for the first time ever. That’s why I am coming to Louisville. let me know, I still have the same mobile number.

I’d love the company. You see a little red and yellow QR, more than likely that’ll be me. I’m not fast by any means, but if you plan on doing an easy pace…it’d be great. I believe the guys I’m meeting are planning on riding more aggresively than me, so you’ll definitely have your choice. LOL!
Looking forward to the weekend!
Amy

Great!
Thanks Scott!
Amy

Rob and Andy are doing the Pancake ride, its Daschner’s last ride before he moves or something. Need to pass on that, riding with that group on top of a rest week, staying contained would be impossible. I might catch up with you guys on River Road, and ride back out to 1694. Only 2 hours on the schedule for Sat.
