Louisiana 3 Feet

While training for his first triathlon, the inaugural New Orleans Half IM, 28-year-old Dr. Colin Goodier was hit by a truck and killed on June 9, 2008 on River Road in Baton Rouge. With the support of his family and fitness enthusiasts throughout the state, a bill will be introduced to our legislators this spring by Representative Michael Jackson. If passed, this will be Louisiana’s first law to protect the rights of cyclists. Not only will the law’s text outline cyclists’ equal right to our roads but it deems motorists must give 3 feet of space when passing cyclists and it prohibits harassment of cyclists. The law will serve as a catalyst for education, signage, public service announcements, etc… making the general public aware of the rights of cyclists, saving lives around our state.
All LA riders please check it out. We all love this sport and most of us have friends and loved ones that ride as well but we take a great risk everytime you hit the street for a ride! Check this site out and do something about it.

Another tragic loss. Hope 3 feet helps. It’s 2 here in Virginia. Still get buzzed on almost every ride.

That area is a great convenient place to ride in BR but you get absolutely no courtesy from from the drivers in that area. I’m in NW La and it’s pretty much the same way all over the state. I have contacted my local senators and reps about the matter.

and Pedalduck there is only one “n” and the end of Louisiana
.

In New Mexico its (hard to say this with a straight face :)) 5 feet. Brings up a recollection of that girl in Top Gun showing length measurements.

I know, thanks. It wouldn’t let me edit until now. I saw immediately after posting, yes embarrassing, sorry.
