good for the person chasing THERE dream…
t~
“THERE” dream OR “THEIR” dream?
“THERE” dream OR “THEIR” dream
Or they’re dreaming
.
for $75K, he could’ve paid me to do it for him
or was $60K of that spent for the slot?
Sure, $75,000 is a large sum of money to those of us whose proletarian butts work for peanuts, but is it really that much in comparison to other sacrifices we make for the sport?
Carbon bike, wheels, wetsuit = $$$$
Airfare, race entries, hotel rooms = $$$
Opportunity cost to professionals (doctors, lawyers, etc.) who cut back to half or quarter time to train as “age groupers” = $$$$$$$
Although I won’t be dishing out $75,000 for a Kona spot anytime soon, I don’t necessarly think it’s that much greater of a sacrifice than what many who toe the line make.
Mark 12: 41-44
41 ¶ And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain apoor widow, and she threw in two bmites•, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this apoor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their aabundance; but she of her bwant• did ccast• in dall that she had, even all her living.
are you really that bored that you are looking up someone’s else’s Kona time to make you feel better?
75 k must buy one hell of a bike. Does Lance come with it?
If you’ve got that much money to spend, why not spend it on something that makes you happy? I’d say the $75k is better spent on Kona than on a bling-bling watch or a pimped out hummer.
As far as his time goes, a great thing about triathlon is you don’t have to be a super athlete to complete in the world championships.
“I’d say the $75k is better spent on Kona than on a bling-bling watch or a pimped out hummer.”
Except that the Hummer has a resale value.
I said very clearly “to each his own.”
.
Most of you people must be poor. For a dude like him, making several hundred grand (minimum) per year, rounding up is common. If he spent $20K, it would be easy for him to just round it to $75K for conversation.
Who?
Not familiar with how he won this (ebay?), but much of that is tax-deductible…so I imagine he came out ahead considering all of this other contributions.
So, he probably only “paid” around $1500…
