I’m sure this has probably been gone over before, but couldn’t find it in a search.
My big ring bar end shifter is a bit difficult to shift. So much so it’s making my wrist hurt after a long ride. How does one make it shift a little easier? I’m assuming it’s possible and I could probably figure it out…but I’d rather not turn my new bike into yet another project or end up having it fall off in the middle of no where.
Any help or previous threads on the subject appreciated.
look at the cable guide under the bottom bracket if you have been using a sport drink sometimes some will run down and gunk up this guide, also lube your cables/housings
.
cable is being caught up somewhere due to a number of things…replace cable and lube inside the cable housing with a spray lube…if still not working well then replace cables as well…
I can see the cable beinga problem…but it’s a new bike. Less than 600 miles on it and it’s been tight from day one. Can the shifter itself be loosened. I.E. the little lever? or is this set and can’t be adjusted?
If the cable is the only possibility then I’ll just take it back to the LBS I bought it at. I was hoping it was just some sort of “loosen this screw” type of thing.
sounds to me like the installation was not good…take it to a friend who has bar end shifters too and find out if the tension is normal or not…if not normal the shop will adjust for you with a new cable.
