A few days ago a kid at work loaned me a DVD that he said would change my world view and I had to watch it. It was Loose Change a film about how the US goverment did 9/11. It was shit. It was awful. They had no proof. All these kids did was read things off the web find video that matched the crap on the web and splice it together. The staements they made didn’t even come close to matching what the video footage showed. I googled and everyone is swallowing what 3 teens say as gospel fact even if the footage shows something completely different then what they say it shows.
On the History Channel last night they ran a program that knocked all of the 9/11 shit out of the park. The Loose Change loosers didn’t even have an argument to defend their shit other then “This is what I believe.” Of course they are also going to change up their movie to side step the massive problems they have.
All this brought up questions. Why do people distrust their own eyes and simple evidence to believe the untrue? What is about humans that make us want to believe anything that is not fact and look at facts and attack them?
Conspiracy theories are always fun. But the idea that the government could keep secrets like this is ridiculous. The X-Files was a good tv show, but it was fiction.
Disclaimer: in 2000 I was convinced that nobody was causing the CA energy debacle, but that conspiracy theory turned out to be accurate, several corporate lackeys were indeed manipulating the system.
Oh it’s amazing what these guys are getting away with. The greatest is just before Building 7 fell the owner of the building said “Pull it”. He was talking about the rescue team in the building but some how these sub-humans say it’s a term used by the companies who implode buildings. I have yet to find the proof of this. As a matter of fact the History Channel show had a guy who brings buildings down for a living say that term is never used. Oh wait he is part of the right wing conspiracy. It’s all scary bullshit. It seems that the more truthful you are in this world the less people trust and believe you.
At the very beginning of the show they prefaced it with other famous “Conspiracy Theories”: JFK’s assassination for one, Abraham Lincoln’s before that.
They basically laid it out that people look in the shadows because it’s not balanced; for 3,000 people to die on 9/11, 3,000 people must have been involved. People don’t want to believe that 19 seemingly mundane people can do such damage to a nation, without outside assitance. JFK was so much larger than life, a larger than life “organization” would have been needed to take him down.

I trust we all remember that 3 republican presidential candidates raised their hands when asked ‘How many of you do not believe in evolution’.

I don’t know. I certainly don’t believe your assertion that “everyone is swallowing what 3 teens say as gospel fact.” I’m saying this is a classic example of your throwing stones in a glass house.
“Conspiracy theories are always fun. But the idea that the government could keep secrets like this is ridiculous. The X-Files was a good tv show, but it was fiction.”
Yep. That’s why this stuff is so hilarious. I don’t believe our government is anywhere near as powerful or as secretive as conspiracy buffs proclaim.
In a way, Loose Change is what Rush Limbaugh hath wrought.
Let me explain: Much of this conspiracy stuff stems from talk radio. Now, Rush and Hannity are more mainstream and less outrageous, but they do push the envelope at times, hyperbole, throw bombs with little consequence, and have become very popular … thus making it safer for more ridiculous people like Michael Savage (and Michael Moore), thus making it safer for the people like these:
This stuff is very popular in the Rural West and very popular with hyper Conservative, libertarian anti-gov. types … as is Loose Change … There is a direct line, even though Rush is totally pro-state and these people are totally anti; even though Loose Change is believed by the Far Left it is also swallowed by the libertarians … Some of this stuff is gaining traction, from what I have seen. Lots of it on the AM dial of the radio, but most of it on the Net … Gotta love free speech.
