Looking to purchase 1st TRI bike

Hello all , I am looking for some advise on purchasing my 1st Tri bike. I currently ride a fuji road bike and love it. I have done a couple of triathlon events and am now looking to crossover to a TRI bike. Anyone have any worthwhile advise or recommendations for me. I am a 5’10" 36yr Male in good shape. Thanks for the info!

Honestly, try to get the best bang for the buck entry level bike you can find. It does not have to be new. Look at Ebay if you know what size you ride. Get fitted to see what size bike you should be on and then go forth and find the best deal you can get.

Right now the best bang for the buck that I have seen is the Cervelo P1. Yes you can get a more expensive ride but you can take the money saved and pick up a nice front aero wheel on ebay and a wheelcover from Wheelbuilders.com and you would have a very aero tri bike for maybe around $2000 depending of a few items. It would most likely be more aero than some other expensive options from other bike companies.

Congrats in advance on your purchase. This website has a list of fitters and one may be in your area. Make an appointment with them and let them help you determine the best bike for you, regardless of brand.

Make sure you post pics when you buy it!

I second the recommendation for the Cervelo P1. Spend the money you save and get a good bike fit.

I agree. There are two bikes that fit differently, but between them cover a large spectrum of fits. I would ride them both and get fit to see which works. Both are terrific bikes.

Cervelo P1

While fuji does make the best road bikes( i have two) if your looking for just a entry level tribike look at bikesdirect.com, not the most agressive tri bikes but may be a good entry level.

What about this Cervelo P2SL?

I say, don’t bother. Why trade up or spend money on a bike that you may (or may not) like on the gamble that it might make you any faster? Find one that works best for YOU, then make the decision as to whether or not it’s going to improve your overall experience.

I just purchased a Felt S32 this spring and I love it!
