A friend of mine from Switzerland competes in sth like the “world fireman triathlon” in NYC (NJ?) this weekend. Turns out the lovely airline called Swiss wants him to pay $500 for his bike. EACH WAY. Hence, he’s looking to rent a TT/Tri-bike for this race. I haven’t been successful to find a company who rents such bikes. He’s 5’8. Thanks much!
I can’t help with the bike rental, but according to the Swiss website, as long as his bike box is under 30kg he should be charged $200 each way, not $500. Still expensive, but why are they trying to charge the old rate (rates went down on August 1st) for a “large” item, when a bike should be classed as a “medium” ?
