Yes, you want a trainer tire until you build up some road tires that you can afford to rip up.
thanks but what is the brand? and why is it an angry beaver on the pic?
Just call and ask for the angry badger deal.
what about cycleops?
I know a bunch of people who really like their Cyclops. I went with the trainer, which we shall not speak its name, because it has a totally sealed unit. I ride my trainer on some nice rugs, so dumping the resistance fluid on the floor is not an option. It is rare, but it does happen on fluid trainers with sealed shafts, which is every other model on the market.
thanks for the informations.
Call them and ask. Odds are they cannot advertise the brand name due to the agreement they have with the company is why there’s a badger pic and no mention of brand.
I have zero connection with the shop other than I’ve got an angry badger as my trainer and found it to be about the best deal out there.
Call them and ask. I’m sure they’ll answer your questions as they did mine.
Send a e-mail to Bicycleoctor@att.net and request the trainer sale list, also ask for the Power Tap sale list. All the top brands models on sale.

The new Cycleops Super Magneto is VERY nice and you don’t need to worry about the fluid stuff. The Fluid2 is also good, tried and true unit. I haven’t tried the new Jet Fluid. The service from Saris is great and the stuff is still assembled in Madison, WI (although some parts come from overseas).
I can’t comment on power curves of the different trainers. I’ve heard from friends that the Kurt Kinetic has the “best” power curve. I just go with the trainer I’d prefer to ride for hours. I actually only use my Magneto to warm-up for races, since I got a Computrainer. Way more expensive, but an great training tool.
