i have posted an ad in the classifieds, and in that ad said that this plea belongs there (due to the fact that I’m asking for gear). Well, for a number of reasons, i’ve decided that it is main forum worthy (I could be wrong).
Honestly my efforts here are spurred on by the fact that I’m no longer concentrated on my own training (I’ve suffered a season perhaps career ending injury) so now i find myself in the role of coach and mentor to a friend that has actually served as an inspiration to me for the past few years.
Her name is Cris Ferrone and she is a mother of two, about 4’10" 90lbs soaking wet and a triathlete. We had made a pact to do out first Ironman races this year for our birthdays, her 40th and my 30th. We chose different races for scheduling reasons and she ended up with MOO. I tell you what, that 90lb italian had more balls than me, picking one of the most challanging courses in the land vs. my non PED manlyness that elected IMFL for the ease of flatnes.
Up until about three months ago everything was going according to plan (aside from th fact that her husband had been unemployed for over a year and she was raising two kids with little support and little money while working and keeping the house) - needless to say it was hard to get her for a sunday ride.
Several months later we find out that her husband was not out looking for jobs, but was out with another woman and the whole thing fell apart.
Now he is spending like a fool, not paying the bills and letting the family home go into default. Thankfully she has been put up in an apt. with the kiddos and she got her bike out of there (meanwhile there is a $9,000 serota in the basement of the house that is his). bottom line she has nothing, but is still committed to racing IMoo.
Well, so here is what I’m asking. I’m done for a while, so I’ll tear my bike apart - shifters, bars, cables whatever, wheels are from my wife’s bike as well as her cranks. so the major stuff is accounted for (unless there are some extra narrow bars out there), except the frame. She has dreamed of a P2C and i think tha she could use it.
Now I know fit is everything, but at 4’10" there aren’t alot of options in the 650 wheel size, especially not one that is lendable.
So here is my plea:
Could I borrow or rent a P2C 48 for my friend to do IMOO? My race is over, but I would like her’s to be great,and i though that someone her might be able to help.
