Looking for Oly dist race in Northeastern U.S. in late August or early September

Can anyone recommend an fun and competitive Olympic distance race in the Northeastern U.S. in the late August or early September time frame? Something like a Memphis-in-May style race, but not in Memphis and not in May…you know what I mean.

Thanks,

Matt

Matt, I’ve never done it so I can’t give you any feedback about the race itself but I just got a flyer for the www.CranberryCountryTri.com held on August 28th.

yeah, flat - and a very fast course - good field of athletes. run and managed by a local tri club i think.

ive heard good things from those who have raced it.

Greater Hartford (CT) Triathlon isn’t bad

Park City Triathlon (Bridgeport, CT) is in August

SOS is a classic (1/2 Iron adventure race) in mid Sept.

Nancy,

Thanks. I was considering the Cranberry County Tri prior to reading your post…your positive comments may have sealed the deal for me. It is a fair drive for me, but I have many friends in MA, RI and CT so I’m sure I could make a fun trip out of it.

Cheers,

Matt

I did Cranberry last year…great post race BBQ.

The greater Hartford tri has some serious climbing on the 2nd half of the bike and run. It was a really nice event…with a relatively small, but fast field. The water you swim in is potable.

Our club is putting on a OD race in september in Saratoga NY. www.cdtriclub.org.

Lancaster Family YMCA Triathlon in Lancaster, PA. Raced this the past two years. Some nice hills, well organized, and awards for all age groups. Two years ago the swim measured out to be about 7 minutes too long, but it was remedied the following year! Oh, you also get a free honey bear! YUM!

Check out the Mighty Hamptons Triathlon on Sept. 18. It’s a beautiful venue out in the Hamptons on Long Island. Fast and flat, even if sometimes windy. Lots of great beaches and restaurants in the area make it a great destination/vacation race. Well run. Good competitive field. Long history as one of the areas best races.

Second Lancaster

Great race. Large but organized competition and a great course.
