As far as viewing, I believe that the 1989 race – the famous duel between Dave Scott and Mark Allen – is on-line at youtube.

There is also an online show (not sure if it’s youtube or not) of the 1986 race. There is some good footage of Scott and Allen in that one, as well. However, it is also kind of wierd in that it is filmed in a sort of first-person format of, “You can do this!!!” with a fake coach talking to the camera (like she is talking to you) to get you through your Ironman day. It’s still worth it to see Dave Scott, though.
