Where I live, there are a lot of good trails to run and I would like to determine distances on the trails. I can’t find a good mapping tool that will let me go off-road using a satellite view. Tried Strava & MapMyRun but can’t get them to do what I want. Can anyone give me a recommendation?

Ridewithgps.com has a bunch of map options besides google. You’ll have to look through to see which one has the best trails mapping near you. OSM Cycle is pretty comprehensive near me.
That said, I rarely measure distance on trails, unless it’s a straightish cinder path. Pace on trails through the woods is kinda meaningless.

This one. Has terrain too. Save your routes and you can see total elevation throughout the ride. It’s my go to mapper.
