I have a roadbike with drop bars and I want to put clip-on aero bars on. I want aerobars that put my forearms at the level of the top of the bars. Any suggestions for a brand and model? It looks like HEDs are pretty low, but I would like something a bit less expensive if possible. Are there any Profile models that are as low as the HEDs?
I’m partial to the PD T2. You can mount those suckers above, level with or underneath of the base bar. Take your pick. You’ll need a few extra cheap parts to do it but it’s relatively easy to do.
Ovals are very low - I had a similar search, long and painful, before finding my mashup of a setup (oval brackets and armrests, zipp ski-bend extensions… thanks classifieds!). I tried t2’s, and liked them well enough mounted above and hated them mounted below. They’re most emphatically not low when mounted in the stock setup. My ovals are literally on the tops, which is great.
Aren’t the Ovals just as expensive though? I would probably suggest the Profile T2+'s. That is if you indeed want an S-bend. While i dont they they are as low (pad seems to sit a bit higher, especially in comparison to the end of the bar), they are half the price of the HEDs.
