I feel guilty when my 4am alarm (quiet music) wakes my wife, she’s a light sleeper. Cuz, she can never go back to sleep. Now, at times, this is a good thing Seriously, tho, early morning workouts are the best way for me to keep volume up on workdays. Evenings are pretty busy around the house, and any workouts after I get home are short & sweet, a bonus. Not really interested in crashing in another room. I don’t like 4am, but its the only time that I don’t take away from my crew. Until…I consistently woke her up, that’s not cool, she’s not asking for a wakeup call that early to her day. So, do you know of a watch, or something similar, that can shake me awake without beeping, buzzing, gonging, or burping?
Just started having this problem too… (and now my wife is sick and it’s my “fault” because I wake her up to early in the morning to train) did you try any of the suggestions that were in this thread?

There is a tactical watch that vibrates as an alarm. It also has some functions like a ballistic calculator to compute bullet drop which you may not need… :0
I run at 4 am three days a week and use a regular alarm clock set to radio on low volume. My wife is often not even aware that I have been up to run. I think that if you are committed enough to your sport and your family that you are up at 4 then an alarm that sounds for a second or two should be tollerable by your wife. Is your wife also invilved in the sport? If not, is it possible that she simply resents your committment. We run our own business, have twin boys and both are able to get our training in by making some sacrifices for each other. I’ve heard of this problem before and I simply don’t get it.
I have used the sleeptracker before and felt more well rested 99% of the mornings. I currently use the Sleep Cycle app for my iphone. It tracks my sleep cycles each night. I find it VERY resourceful.
Question…What time do you go to bed to wake up at 4am, and what time does your wife go to bed?
I’m up at 5:30am and to accomplish this i’m in bed by 10:30pm or so. Most of the time my wife goes to bed at the same time, oherwise, she sleeps around 11pm, which usually results in me waking up, which then results in me taking another 30min to get to sleep again. Does your wife go to bed later than you? Any problems waking up when she gets into bed?
I dont blame her for wanting to stay up late since she usually wakes up at 7:30am. When she goes to bed at 10:30 she still wakes up at 7:30am, meaning that i am constantly on 2 hours less sleep than her…and constantly exhausted.

Can you tell me anything more about this app? What does the alarm sound like? How sensitive is it to movement? My girl and I share a full size bed, so I’m wondering if it would be thrown off by her moving around. I also tend to move around a lot less than she does. Do you still think it would work well?

I would assume the only reason one would not the ballistics calculator would be because they already have one, correct?
