I have a vo2 stealth that has done me well over the past few years. However, I have lost about 15 lb and after a swim today I think that I’m in the market for a new wetsuit. I have read Dan’s reviews and also Tom D’s.
Would like a little feedback from people who have recently bought some of the new suits.
I’m 5"10.5’’ weigh in at 145. I’m usually in the top 10% of the swim so I’ve got a pretty good stroke. I don’t handle heat very well (most people sweat, I just melt!) so too warm of a suit is a bad thing. My A race is IMWI with the Racine half and 3 shorter MI races rounding out the season.
Any assistance/recommendations would be greatly appreciated
Larry
Whatever other advice you get, don’t buy online if at all possible. Go someplace where you can try on the wetsuits you’re interested in. If possible, rent one first so you can try it in the water.
You are fairly tall for your weight, so the DeSoto T1 might be a good option for you. The two-piece design accomodates long people very well. As Dan says in his review, when you extend your arms in the T1 you’re only pulling against the 2mm rubber in the pullover top, not against the 5mm rubber of an entire suit.
We only carry DeSoto and Orca so I can’t speak to the other brands, but with Orca’s size charts your weight matters more than your height. Pick the suit in the middle of your weight range as the first one you try on.
Good luck!
