My uncle asked me a little while ago to try to find a bike for him. Here is the problem though, he is 6’9" and about 350lbs. Yeah, I know. He’s the size of an ox. I’ve been trying to find something that could work for him without going custom since he is on a limited budget. Does anybody have any leads on where I can find a behemoth bike in either mountain or road?
I’d start looking around at 29er hardtail mountain bikes with 36 spoked wheels.
A pugsley might also be a good call, but a little pricer than the cost of a basic 29er. I think performance sometimes has some deals on both single speed and geared 29ers.
I am 6’7" and ride a stock bike. You don’t need a custom bike just based on height, but, MAYBE, based on proportions.
I have ridden a 61cm Cervelo, a 61cm Litespeed, a 62cm Specialized and a stock size Lynskey.
All manufacturers make bikes in the 60-64cm range. I think Treks go a bit bigger than most - but, I don’t need anything more than a 59-60 top tube.
I’m 6’7 and fit well on a cervelo 61cm tri bike
I’ve also had a specialized stumpjumper for many years.
Cannondale used to make some large frames up to 63 or so.
Right now I have a custom road and XXL Turner mt bike but those are out of your range.
End of season right now so it’s a good time to look for odd sizes. I found my mt bike as a close out XXL frame last fall and built it up.
