Actually two questions:
-
How do you know when look cleats are worn out?
-
What’s the deal with the new bi-material look delta cleat? Is it really better? I have a spare set of the all red ones.

they have two tiny holes at the base - when they are worn, you’re supposed to replace
new cleats? I haven’t seen them, but I believe they have a teflon area
Chris,
The new bi-material cleats reduce the squeak associated with Look cleats. The new cleats also make it easy to know when they are worn out - when the “the white becomes flush with the red/black material”. The ‘shelf’ becomes thin and can break off which can cause a fall.
the older style cleats will be going away and the bi material will be all that’s left
Ahh… I wondered what those hole were for. They diappeared a year ago so I guess it is time to toss the old ones. Thanks.
