200km for me, as part of a Brevet series. Done several of them actually.

Might do a 300k this year just to say I did it.

It’s all rather pointless though as the longest race I’ll do this year is Olympic, so I don’t really need to busting out 100+ mile rides all the time.

Nice.

My longest training rides are usually about 7hrs or so over a few mountain passes here in Switzerland. Usually around mid summer and they’re basically prep for a brevet style race with about 17’400ft of climbing (test nutrition etc…). I only race olympic so really no need to be going that long other than I like being in the mountains riding and I am able to do it.

I did a 60 miles ride last summer leading up to a sprint triathlon. Not really sure why.

147 miles with 4500 feet of climbing two weeks prior to IM Lake Placid last year. This year I’ve signed up a a three day, 310 mile brevet a month before Lake Placid and will do my 147 mile ride again as well.

Bob

6 hour/130 mile ride prior to my first IM in 2007.

160 miles last summer. 2 of us bonked hard at 110, pulled into a wendys, ordered off the dollar menu, chowed, finished the ride strong

120 miles in 2006 leading up to IM Wisconsin. Longest training ride last year was right at 100 miles.

Spot

456 miles, 22,572 feet of climbing. One water bottle and on a unicycle.
I am usually not the type to pat my own back or anything, but I was also juggling 3 oranges and a chainsaw.

Saul,

You must have done Hogpen Gap and Brasstown Bald during that ride? I did the Brasstown Bald Buster last year and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to test their legs. The climb up Brasstown Bald comes up after you have already ridden 100 miles and over 10,000 ft of climbing. Brasstown starts at about 18% and then gets up to 25%+ on “The Wall”. One of the toughest rides I have ever done.

Now that I am complete with my thread hijack, the longest ride I ever did before my first IM was 118 miles. It was the IM Louisville route (with a few added miles at the end as I circled back to my hotel).

Doesn’t count if the chainsaw wasn’t running!

That’s too speedy for me to even dream about.I thought my 200miles in 10:30 solo during Ultraman Canada 1994 was hard but then again I’m just a slow Ultra-geek!

.

Are you going to try to race again?

I hope you are healing well.

I always find it difficult to juggle an even number of items … especially when on my unicycle.

I think you’ve won this pissing contest

My group once got a bit lost during a sponsored century ride, we turned a 100 mile ride into 135 miles.

oh yeah, well racing I once did 100 miles in 3.5 hours, it was a two man team time trial.
That includes a stop at a dairy queen for a chili dog and coke.

During the spring I usually do a 200km out and back 3-4 times. I find it to be more of a mental challenge than physical - it’s tough at the turnaround when I’m feeling really tired knowing that to get back home I have to do another 3.5 hours of work.

The route is actually on some of your old team mate T.Hushovds local training roads!
