So it looks like it’s going to rain tomorrow here in NYC. I had my long run planned and now I’m toying with the idea of doing it on the treadmill. Which got me thinking, what’s the longest you’ve ran on the mill?
half marathon with just a wall too look at. Dont recommend. Definitely need to set up some sort of entertainment, a tv or something.
longest for me is just over 90 minutes, not a 1/2 marathon at my snails pace. This winter I’m planning on getting doing a 30/60/90 pattern for TM runs. I’m sure someone on here has done something in the crazy zone of 3 hours or the like.
0 ft.
There are no conditions that would convince me to run on the treadmill, ever.
Full, looking out from the second floor window of my gym. Set out for 21, and just kept going.
Annoyingly, the machines only allow one hour workouts, so had to stop a few times.
Not a treadmill, but I got stuck on my trainer for 4 1/2 hours last weekend while it rained, a lot. It was my last long ride before my first IM and I couldn’t miss it. Brutal. Good luck!
i’ve done a half on a dreadmill, wasnt to bad.
15 miles.
you’ll probably want a spare shirt.
I did 15 miles. I actually loved it… Got to watch some football the whole time so I was cool with it.
3 hrs
.
4.5 miles! Won’t even do that again. Congrats to you guys who run Marathons on them.

Music videos and hot girls in the gym help a lot…
Almost all of my running is on the mill. Occasionally, I hit the track for harder efforts or run with my wife, son and dog on the trails on easy days. I have a great trainer and treadmill set up in my basement and at work which keeps me from skipping. I am also one of those 4 am wake up idiots…
I have done a few runs on the treadmill (vast majority of them in hotel gyms while traveling). I doubt I went over 50 minutes.
Rain would definitively not stop me from doing a long run outside!
Fred.
I was living in Boston last winter and ended up doing about 60% of my marathon build on the treadmill. I spent a lot of Sundays on the treadmill watching the PGA tour on TV. And, yes, I even did one of my Sunday 20 milers on a treadmill.
I haven’t been back on a treadmill since the marathon.
3hrs this summer due to a foot injury. In general though I hate treadmill running!
Running uphill was the only way I could run without hurting my foot, so treadmill with incline was the only solution for permanent uphill running. Though I’d suggest taking a short break every 30min or so to hit the bathroom/refuel or change clothes, especially so that your legs get a quick break from the same repetitive pattern
26.2 at the gym on a rainy tropical storm day. It was annoying because it restarts after 99 minutes so it forced me to do math.
Hour at the most. Not enough TV & Music in the world to keep me on longer. I even had to mix up that hour into various intervals.
I’d run in a blizzard before doing a long run on tmill.
20 miles, 4 weeks out from a marathon, there were heavy thunderstorms outside and I couldn’t miss the workout. Did it at my local rec center, had my usual workout drink and a bag of trail mix, and watched the spin class, then the aerobics class, circuit training class, etc. Wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t do it again.
