Long torso guys...what tops fit you best?

Our club is in the process of looking for new kits for this year. The tops we used last year were too short for many members, especially the taller men with long torsos. I’d appreciate any recommendations for brands or, better yet, the brand and specific type of a custom top that is suitable for a taller person with a long torso.

Thanks!

DeSoto. They make awesome stuff and both my two peice suits are plenty long on my 6’4" frame.

My Kiwami one peice fits great too, but I can’t speak to the length of their Tri tops.

Second the idea that you check out DeSoto. I have a long torso (6’2.5 tall, 34 inch jeans, 192 lbs) and wear a size Large DeSoto sleeveless tri top. David K

You should check out the Pearl Izumi tri top line, they have “sl” tops that are extra long, I have the elite in r cool sl top in large and I am 6’4" 178lbs.

+3 on De Soto. I had a similar fit problem. Tall and skinny (6’2" and 158 lbs). Tried a bunch of other brands. Anything long enough was too loose, anything tight enough was too short. Mix and match with De Soto just right.

If you’re doing custom stuff - Champion Systems has an option to order all tops in extra length. I’m 188cm and 66kg (that’s 6’2 and 140lbs, I think?) and ride their size S.

Thanks for the inputs! The tallest guy does wear a PI top. I couldn’t mind a lot of info on PI custom stuff, but will look again. I will also look at Desoto. We did order the longer sized in Champion after our first order last year. They were still pretty short and lack of pockets was an issue for many, but I will see if they have another offering.

Ugh! I need to find someone artistic with tons of time in the club to handle this!

CS has a billion models, some have pockets (at least, my CS stuff does). I’m about to order their Tri Speedsuit and back-zip Apex one-pieces for the next season in Small-Long.

What size De Soto do you wear? I’m a little shorter and a little heavier.

Size 4 top, size 5 bottom.

Guessing we had the least expensive model as the material is pretty thick and not terribly cool. I’ll see if they can send us some of their other models. I think members would rather spend a little more for comfort.

If there cycling jerseys are anything to go by, the Champion System fit seems to work well on the long torso. I recently received some Champion System Samples to check out. I have a REALLY long torso for a 6’2" man, and the medium cycling jersey fit me perfectly for length!

Also, I was REALLY impressed by the overall quality and cut of the garments(cycling jersey and some bib shorts). I’ve worked for one of the apparel companies in the business, and I have ridden in and worn lots of different brands of cycling apparel and the Champion Systems was top-of-the-line!

Thanks. I will check. The first batch we bought last year was too short for many. The second batch was longer, but I am not sure if they were the extra long ones. The comments caused me to re-consider them. I sent an email. Thanks again for the inputs!

Check out the Long Distance Tri Top from 2XU. That one is SUPER long

I am 6’4" with a 32" inseam, so obviously have a pretty long torso. X2 on the 2XU (see what I did there?) Plenty of coverage.

Also, I’ve had a few of the DeSoto, both Forza and Carrera (if memory serves) and both were long enough for me.

Pretty much nothing else has worked for me, though YMMV.

Whatever Faris uses:

Oh yeah…we need to see THAT on a bunch of 40 something age groupers : )

Clever. After you all mentioned that I remembered that I had a 2XU that I loved. I am also tall for a girl at 5’9" with a medium torso. So far aesthetically, that would be my choice and it would be unique compared to what the other clubs are wearing. Hoping I hear back from them soon as I need to get samples ASAP.

is what I have, first tri top I’ve had in my twenty-five years of racing that doesn’t ride up during the run…
