I use Instant Breakfast i think carnation makes it. easy to make, easy to drink!
i usually have 2 packets of oatmeal before a long run. otherwise a whole wheat bagel w/ pb & j if i dont have oatmeal.
1/2 of a pb&j sandwich.
I did a 4 hour run this morning and had two cans of diet pop and 3 huge apples on the drive to the trail. Not conventional but it cured my cravings.
Exactly. EAt a good dinner the night before, then you just need a small snack and no need to sit around and digest, though right now I am procrasitating heading out the door while pb toast settling in tummmy. But most days I have a good dinner, then maybe just a drink and bar in the morning. Focus on recovery eating rather than pre workout. I think that mroe important.
Also for the oat meal eaters…raw? what is the deal here? what kind of oats? you don’t cook them? what is the reason for not cooking them?
I find it’s best to do my AM long runs on empty…
If I feel I need something, I’ll chug a Boost Plus (Vanilla).

Ran for 2 hrs this AM after eating just a cliff bar. I’m not in to big breakfasts. Most times I’ll just have a glass of chocolate soymilk, or a yogurt.

Maybe I oughta think of smaller meals… I had to pit stop at a Timmy Ho’s with some major GI issues this morning about 14k in to my 32k… A ok after that, but it was BM #4 of the morning… dunno if this is the result of a recent 4 day cleanse I did about a week and a half ago or what but my guts are messed, especially in the AM, this is why I gotta give myself the time in the morning to get up and get through all these Gastro issues… like everyone had to know.
But my AM meals DO consist of about 15g of fibre between oatmeal and berries… hmmm…

Your liver can only handle about 400/500 calories at a time anyway and everything else gets stored as fat… small meals are good!

Boost: reminds me of my parents, cancer, the hospital, just can’t even look at it. But I know it works for a lot of people,slimfast also.
If I want a quick and easy breakfast before a long run, I usually have a Ensure. I haven’t had any problems using this for the past 5 years.
