Long Distance Bike Fit Question

A true American hero emailed me this morning for advice. He is near Kabul and wants to buy his first bike. He has been lusting after a Litespeed for a while and seeing the deals that are out there on '05’s he wants to finally pull the trigger, so to speak. The question is, what is the best way for him to figure out what size frame to buy? I know this isn’t the ideal way to fit your first bike, but he doesn’t want to miss out on the deal, and the LBS cant help him, unless he wants to buy a few RPG’s. Help me help him please.

Also which frame would you recommend? He is a bigger guy, 6’1" 200, very fit and will probably ride about 100 miles a week. He is also very competitive and I could see him doing some racing in the future. Vortex? Ghisalo? Ultimate?

Any better deals out there than Colorado Cyclist? http://www.coloradocyclist.com/common/products/displayproductlist_v2.cfm?&CGRFNBR=277&CRPCGNBR=277&TextMode=0&CI=1,223

Thanks in advance.

ATW!!

Doesn’t Demerly sell Litespeed? Sounds like a guy Tom could help - and would want to. And his expertise is going to be better than most of the others here.

I’d call Tom at the shop.

Cmon guys…help a brother out. Should I just call a quality litespeed dealer?

"Should I just call a quality litespeed dealer? "

That’s probably your best bet. Also read the bike fit section on the Colorado Cylist web site and use this as a guide to get your friend’s measurements.
