Long Course Duathlon Nationals

Congrats to Peter Skorseth who, at age 44, won the long course Duathlon Nationals (in OH) and will be going to Worlds in Spain. Unbelievable times. Here are his splits:

Peter Skorseth, age 44

Run: 5.5miles
30:57.89 (5:38 pace)

T1
00:30.56

Bike: 56 miles

2:23:24.65 (23.4 mph)

T2
00:32.35

Run: 13.1 miles
1:17:47.47 (5:56 pace)

Total
4:13:12.92

Rolling hills, but fast bike course - 2 main hills on the run: good race day weather, about 88-90 at the finish, but only 20% humidity

Would have loved to see those 30 second transitions (but I was probably still in the water) and a 5:30-5:50 or so for almost 19 miles of running (forget the cycling in the mix) is blazing for any age.

i did the tri but i wouldn’t really call it a ‘fast’ bike course. wouldn’t say it’s slow either though. eagleman, gulf coast, etc…those are fast bike courses. overall, a very well run race! it’s a long drive but i’d do it again for an hfp race. was bummed that they ran out of those massage things by the time they got to my awards category…oh well, more hammer gel for the cabinet.

also, the infinite nutrition drink was great as well as the guys who run that company. more people should check them out!!

I did the 1/2 IM tri too. Yeah, I call it a “fast” course for an HFP run events as they are usually pretty hilly/tough. I still managed about 21 mph avg for that 56 miles. Very well run indeed.

InfinIT is great stuff for sure - Mike posts here often under said namesake. Long drive home to North Carolina for sure!
