Long chain carbs vs sugar

Im convinced that for IM long chain carbs are the way to go. I think Im going to use Perpetuem. My question is for sprints-wouldnt Cytomax which has fructose or Gatorade which has sucrose and glucose be almost better than a slower carb. I have a little knowledge in this area but not a lot. thanks.

In the course of a 1hr maybe 1.5hr sprint race, how many calories do you think you’re actually going to ingest during the race that will actually benefit you?

I use an PD aerodrink on the front of the bike with Water and Hammer gel, and thats it, it’s mainly for hydration. the 300-ish cals I’m getting into my system during the bike portion are probably not even half way through tht IG tract by the time I’m on and done the 5K

IMO I don’t think it really makes much difference for sprints, long-chain, short-chain. Your body typically has enough stored glycogen for about 90mins of hard effort.

So what do you like to drink when you’re at AT?
