I am really into those cathered bike tours to get my really long rides in. Does anyone know of any in aug and beginning of september? I want something within a 2 hours drive so: cincy, columbus, louisville, lexington, dayton, indy???
Uhh, There is a nice one, kinda out of your preferred geographical range but…
The DALMAC (Dick Allen Lansing to Mackinac) tour. Starts in Lansing, MI this year on Aug 31st and finishes Sept 4th at the Mackinac bridge. However it usually sells out pretty early. So maybe next year.
It’s a fun fully supported tour. A couple options. 4-5 day tours with a 4X100mile/day option as well. I’m a veteran of this option. Talk about epic training. The first 2 days are a little boring as you are in the flatlands of michigan. The last 2 however can be quite challenging and quite beautiful as you spend a great deal of time near the lakeshore (lake michigan). You camp out every night and breakfast and dinner are provided for.
Lots of great people and great fun. I recommend it if you get a chance.
Is it sold out yet? How far is Lansing?
It’s sold out. And no waiting list:

And Lansing is about 300 miles from Cincy…
check out the www.ohiocycling.info this should give you alot of events listed.
also, if you aren’t already, pay the 15.00 for the cincinnati cycling club–a newletter comes with events and group rides outlined. plus this mailer of events comes every spring (not to mention a discount at certain lbs because you are a member).
on the events list, let me know what you decide. i’ll also be looking for long rides at that time…but i know you’ll be pre-KONA!!! hey, i can try to hang, right? lol.
specifically there is a 100 mile tour locally on Sept 3, called the BCBCBCBC and it should be pretty hilly and still a little humid. you can sign up for that one through www.cincinnaticycleclub.org
good stuff!!! I’ll do that one, aiming for 75 miles or something like this.
It may not be late enough for you, but the RAIN ride across Indiana is July 16. Starts in Terre Haute, IN and ends in Richmond, IN (about 155 miles i think).
Hey kitty, Marisol
Yeah, the BCBCBC ride is great - well supported and very pretty. VERY hilly, but very nice stops (about as nice as the TOSRV I think). Definitely plan on it.
