Watched the logging games on TV. These guys are definately athletes and deserve their credit. Guys from all over - Canada, USA, Oz, NZ, etc, very international. Watched guys sawing huge logs, scaling trees, log rolling, etc. Very entertaining and genuine sport in it’s own right. Also feel the the same way about the fireman competitions. Any comments?
I chopped down a tree with an axe for the first time in my life this week. Yep, those guys are athletes.
Respect.
Anybody in the michigan area interested in this, Frankenmuth michigan will host a Lumberjack festival and competition on memorial day weekend this year.
In Seattle, they have a fundraser/race in the (Columbia/Seafirst, who ever owns it now) Tower for both firefighters and non. 65 flights of stairs, TT style, with a division for firefighters to do it in full bunker gear-airpack and all.
Talk about being “smoked” after the finish (sorry, I couldn’t resist).
