we’ve got about 280 shops on our database, from all over North America. i’ve taken all your suggestions, and i’ve contacted all your shops. almost all your shops have had multiple contacts from me. many have established listings here on the slowtwitch database.
i’m assuming that we have them ALL, and that if a retail store sells bikes, and deserves to be patronized by triathletes, it’s here on our database.
let’s do this one more time. who are we missing? do we have your shop listed here? if not, should we have your shop listed here? if so, we should list it: it’ll help you (by helping keep the shop in business); it’ll help the shop; and it’ll help your fellow slowtwitcher who’s casting about looking for the right shop in your town.
list the shop’s email address here by reply to this post. also, better yet, tell your shop guy to list his shop here:
i have contacted this shop. if there is no listing for them it is because they are not interested in having their shop listed. or, they don’t think their shop ought to be listed. if you think it ought to be listed, you may want to drop them a call.
it’s okay if you add them, but then you have to know what lines they stock, whether they’re fist, serotta, etc., certified, whether wrenches are barnett or ubi certified. you have to know their store hours, etc.
Here in Nova Scotia, there is also Cyclesmith. 902-425-1756. They are the local retailers for Guru, Cervelo, and a few other brands who have a tri-bike line (Trek, Cdale, Specialized), and keep a good selection of tri specific inventory in stock at all times.
There is another shop in San Antonio Tx, that needs to be on the list, its Soler TRI Sports, you had it on the old list, the one you had in the old site, they lost Jay Williams, who was awesome BTW, but the new team is awesome too, and they are still in business and doing good, they carry FELT, QR, Kuota, Fuji, Zoot, Profile, Hed, Zipp, and every running shoe you can think of. The owner is Roger Soler and their bike manager is geoffrey@rogersoler.com he is also the head mechanic and he is good. They have a TRI Club, group rides, a team. I think they deserve to be in the list.
Conte’s of Williamsburg is on the list, but there’s a Conte’s of Arlington that serves the metro DC-VA area. A huge cervelo dealer (they sold me my P2C), and they have a FIST fitter. Surprised they made no effort to get on there…
Do you want bike shops… or bike shops who specialize in triathletes’ bikes?
If it’s just bike shops in general you are missing
Bar Harbor Bicycle (Bar Harbor, ME)
Rose Bike Shop (Orono, ME)
Southwest Harbor Bicycle (Southwest Harbor, ME)
Those two, I’d send triathletes to. The first one in particular, they are nice. The last I was annoyed with when I stopped on a long ride and they didn’t have GELS. “we don’t carry them.” Then again that’s the “quiet side” of the island. Still I’d go there but just not if you need Gu!
