I am in Scottsdale for a few days and found what looks like a decent ride around McDowell Mtn. I loaded the .gpx file successfully into my Edge 510.
Next qyestion - how do I use the file? Do I hit “Start” when I get to the route (I’ll probably have to ride a few miles to get there)? Does the Edge 510 then provide me with alerts / instructions during the ride?
Never really used these features before…just trying to figure it out. Any help is appreciated!!

I have an 800 so not exactly sure about the 510 but on the 810 you go to Courses first, find the appropriate course first. It will usually show them in order closest to farthest for the start point. You have to go to the settings for the course and set it to give you turn guidance “ON”. (There may be a system setting for this but I haven’t found it.) Then hit Go. Oddly, you still need to hit the start button when you are ready to ride. edit supposedly you shouldn’t have to hit “Start” once you press “Go” from the course. I’ll try that when I start today and see.
Hit the folder button on the bottom left of the “launch” screen. Select courses and then the course you want to ride. Make sure that maps is enabled in your “activity profile” and then you just flip over to the map whenever there is a turn in question. It doesn’t show roads and such, you just follow the blue line on the screen (you/direction of travel displayed as arrow). Works perfectly for me when I have a general sense of the route, but may be questioning exactly where one or two turns are.
