Living in Boulder is illegal according to WADA

Not yet, but it’s darn close…

This is silly.

That would be simply ridiculous.

Think it’s absurd. Then folks from Finland would have a distinct disadvantage vs folks with mountains.

As there is some question about LA and doping; I met a triathlete in El Paso, who sleeps in an altitude tent, which he has gradually raised to a simulated altitude of 13-14,000’. He told me his current hemaocrit is 50-51. He is divorced. I’m sure my wife wouldn’t tolerate something like that.

Go to Mammoth. You can live at 7500-8500 ft and train 1/2 hour away at 4000’.

Yeah - live in Mammoth!

You can also take the gondola up to the top of the mountain and spin on your trainer at 11000 feet. Or run from town to the top - nice 3000 foot climb…

Dave

Sure, 3000ft climb… why not die before breakfast?

Unbelievable . . . maybe I should start buying property in Boulder now, before the rush starts. If this goes through, there will be many elite athletes making a beeline to live in places like Boulder or Mammoth. Hopefully WADA won’t regulate where you can live next. “All athletes can only reside and train between the altitudes of 0 - 100 feet above MSL”

You are a little late in getting to Boulder. Frank Shorter came here in the early 70s and started the trend. Avg cost of a house just keeps going up and up, but the athletes keep coming… - which is good for business.

Appears this is a push to regulate or “understand” the hemcrit levels.

IMO, it’s simply stating they have no control over testing nor are they confident in their procedures/results. So, we’ll extend WADA’s substance list to environment.

Hilarious!

Boulder, hell. Move to Gunnison. Western State is killer in Cross-country running right now. When I was on the swim team there, we had the altitude in 3’ high red letters in the natatorium–7,703’.

That would be nice, but thought it was ‘Sleep high-train low’ nowadays.
Ride to Bishop (4000’) and back up the old Sherwin.

That reminds me of when we had a swimming dual meet against Air Force in college. There is a sign on the wall alongside the pool which I believe says, “The Air is Rare 7750 feet.” I saw that stupid sign every lap duing the 1000, and I really thought I was going to die.

Where did you go to school?

We used to swim duals vs. USAFA and the Colorado State HS Championships were there my sophomore year. When we swam against them ('73-'76) Mickey King and Phil Boggs were coaching the divers.

ha! Gunny is where my wife grew up and me brother-in-law still lives. Great training up there!
