So this means by banning LA, USADA is helping cure cancer!
.
“Let’s prove he’s innocent of doping to win bike races by donating lots of money to cancer patients! Yeah, that’ll show 'em!”
Good GAWD, people are dumb.
Reading the comments is just mind-boggling…
This one is probably my favorite although I didn’t read that many. I don’t like to read comments on articles online because it makes me lose faith in the human race.
“In my opinion cheaters try harder,(not being sarcastic) either way he won em and even if the french are #$%$ off about him winning so many, they’ll get over it.”
Yep, cheaters try harder. Never taking shortcuts.
Reading the comments is just mind-boggling…
Wow. I didn’t even get that far. I’m a little dumber for having read many of them.
I think this was part of what LA calculated, though. He now has enough sheeple who know nothing about the realities of the sport that the court of public opinion will be on his side. A brilliant move, actually. Of course it would’ve been insane to think that this latest move was anything but a calculated move made in his own best interests.
I may be missing something, but the math doesnt add up to me
78K in a day x 365 = about 28.5 million. 28.5 million x 15 = about 430 million. Which is far short of the 500 million they claim.
But thats 78K a day, and apparently they were only getting 3-4K a day. And thats up 13% on the year.
Once a pathological liar, always a pathological liar?
EDIT: I may be wrong. My bad
The realities of sport. Please forgive me if this seems an attack on you DrPete…but unless you have been hiding under a rock for the last…ohhh…20 plus years…drugs and sport (like…ALL sports) are pretty much a reality.
I take no offense. I’m just irritated with the people who don’t see it.
Maybe its because people care about what Lance has done with his foundation, and don’t want it to fail now.
It could be that people know when someone is being railroaded on charges, with evidence from witnesses that have little credibilty as they are either 1. ex users that got caught or 2. trying to save their own ass from getting a lifetime ban.
Anyone that blindly believes that Lance was clean probably would give, and anyone that that thinks that he was dirty, and so was everyone else, so its does not matter would give…Only people that are Lance haters, that blindly believe that only he should receive a lifetime ban despite never failing a test, and that everyone else gets a free pass well…they wouldn’t give in the first place.
…and if anyone thinks that Lance has given up…the PR wagon is already rolling, this story is far from over, and the USADA is going to be given a rough ride from a lot of different angles…The UCI for one, is not going to give up jurisdiction on this case.
Me…I know exactly how doping was done in the Pro peleton, and doubt that any winner of the TDF up to this year was totally clean, yes even Greg Lemond…really does anyone think he could beat every other pro who was on drugs when he was the only one clean…it was …the way it was…I can live with that, I hope they can get the sport clean, but when the Olympic Road race gold medal is won by a past drug cheat, its going to be a long battle.
Or, it could just be people want there superstars to perform and entertain and really don’t care how they get there!
Once you’ve won in the court of public opinion, the truth doesn’t matter much. LA knows that very well.
Never failed a drug test? I guess the PR machine really works…But it’s pointless to repeat what has been said over and over again anyway.
Lance is being hunted because he refused to play the game. The game is: sure they all dope, but when they get busted, they take the ban,
come back two years later and win again (a la Contador, Boonen, etc.). But no…Lance couldn’t. He had to push the envelop farther than anyone
else. And for this reason, he’s being busted.
.
That’s cute, that’s cute.
Wait a minute. I’m really not being argumenative, but, you’d be ok if he admitted, served a two year ban and raced again?
I’m actually pleased to see donations go up. I have said for years that I hoped La was never brought down.
Say what you want about the guy, but he was / is an inspiration to millions within the cancer community. One of my best friends in the world is in the last stages of a brain tumor now and I know of the direct benefits they received through the LAF. Were they benefits that they likely could have found elsewhere? Sure…but they found them quickly and relatively easily simply because they were aware of Livestrong.
My fear was that his downfall would lead to a demoralization for many in the cancer community, knowing that someone they looked to for inspiration and strength was a fraud.
So I am glad to see donations pick up and I hope it continues.
I take no offense. I’m just irritated with the people who don’t see it.
I guess some of us see it and say really, they ALL did it. Either you give them ALL lifetime bans, or just quite the witch hunt.
Drugs will never go away in our society. Whether it is for sports, or passing a final in college.
.
The outing o lance, so to say, will not stop doping in any sport , and, he’s still a millionaire.
It’s still just a freakin bike race.
Doode - what drugs help you pass a final in college?? I musta been taking the wrong ones…
