what is your favorite light weight racing clincher tire?
vredestein fortezza tricomp or vittoria open corsa ks.
Michelin Pro Race Lights or Conti Supersonics. The Supersonics are lighter, but don’t last as many miles for me…they required a couple of sets per season when I was using them…the Michelins lasted roughly twice as many races…but that stands to figure…there is more rubber on those…
How light are you talking? I had some 700x20 Vittoria Open Corsa CX’s that were very light, but also very thin. I ditched them after getting flats. I currently race on Continental Attack/Force tires (700x22 front, 700x23 rear). They’re pretty light and seem to handle well. I also like Michelin Pro Races (not the light version- a few grams is not worth a flat in my book).
If I knew the roads were going to be good, then Vittoria Ultraspeeds were my faves. If there is crap all over the roads, Michelin ProRace.
Veloflex-- under 200 grams good traction and no durability issues.
Michelin ProRace 2 for sure - Very durable and fast. Not superlight, but light enough with the 3rd best rolling resistance based on last months German test reports.
Agreed on the Michelin Pro Race 2. Still pretty light, but also very very durable as well. You can squeeze a lot of miles out of them and I live in goathead thorn land here in CO.
Until I ran over a big piece of glass the other night, I was liking the Vittoria Diamante Pro Lights that came on my bike. Seemed to roll well, and wear well and had not flatted in 1300+ miles. 175gm for the weight weanies.
