Matthew Poff is the real winner and should get the $160,000 and car. His time of 1:49:36 beat Alexander’s time of 1:50:00 - by 24 seconds. Wonder if they gave him the check? Z
Is it the same course? That is pretty amazing! He should start getting sponsors. The race ceo guy should give him something. But Alexander really let up the last minute of the race.
I’m guessing he took a shortcut. Looks like the same guy came in 21st of 25 in his AG in the 2005 Terre Haute Triathlon (2:20 versus the winner’s 1:37). Came in 13th of 18 in his AG in a sprint last year. So…mistake in the timing/course, or he has made one hell of an improvement. Maybe he’s doing that Carmichael Training…
I’m guessing only one loop of the run course…
I just checked out the results too, he averaged 30mph on the bike and had a 3 minute t1. He must have cut the course. I wonder if they will fix that by tomorrow.
Must have needed to take an EPO break after the swim…
But Alexander really let up the last minute of the race.
Yeah, they said he beat the course record by 30 seconds, and his last 1/10th mile or so was all “high fives” and handshakes.
The last 1/10 of a mile for the previous course record holder was probably similar… Seems to be a consistent part of breaking course records.
I’m sure it is true. I heard he spent the night at a Holiday Inn Express.
Well, they said they adjusted the “equalizer” time because of the results from last year. So if he “dogs” it in, maybe he’s thinking the equalizer time will be less next year! Odd conflict of interest for the winners of that race.
