Life is Good (running again)

So, after a lengthy battle with AT, 120 days off, things seem to be on the mend. I’m up to 4 miles again. I get a little soreness, but I hit it with ice and celebrex and all seems to be well. I attribute it to the good advice I received from ST’rs, so thanks! Here’s what I’ve been working on

switched shoes from Nike to Assics. Love the shoe. Thanks to Tom D.

Stretching, rubbing, massage it every day.

smaller strides, higher cadence. thanks to however ran that thread a while back. I’m getting used to this but we are talking about changing a 20yr + running style.

I only run once every 3 days.

It’s hard to rein myself in because I’m feeling good and want to take off. I’m going to stay at 4 miles for another month of so then trying moving up to 5-6 miles and see what happens.

Not bad for 47 yrs old!

Good luck Doug Stern on your comeback.

sweet… it feels so good to run again after an injury has healed!

Welcome back!!! It’s the best feeling in the world, isn’t it? Asics rock!!

Sounds dumb but when I couldn’t run, I had dreams of running. When I am off from swimming with a sore shoulder, I definitely don’t dream about swimming!

And don’t you feel like running all day long? Yep, I know the feeling.

I know what you're saying. Since my knee surgeries I've been swimming more than ever and better than ever and it feels good. I've done two sprint tri's this summer and it feels good to come out of the water near the front of my wave. But I ran my first 5K race yesterday, 5 minutes off my PR and I now feel like I can walk on water!

are you telling me that when you run you still have pain and you have to treat it with celebrex and ice?

what happens if you don’t ice or take celebrex?

Kitty, just a real minor soreness that I hit with ice and celebrex for any potential inflamation - just as a precaution. Wouldn’t really call it pain.
