I just got a Giro Advantage 2 and I want to get a Louis Garneau windscreen to fit to it, like Vandevelde’s picture below. It clearly is an LG windscreen, but the ones sold now have all kinds of cutouts and are much shorter than this.
Does anyone have any idea how to get a windscreen like this? I’ve kind of struck out by contacting LG myself. Thanks.
eBay and several other online shops carry the windscreen. I’m interested in doing this as well, although without much experience tinkering around with polycarbonate I have no clue how I would go about trimming it to fit. There are other posts here on ST about doing it - but I can’t get past the part where you have to cut the poly lens. Seems like too much work for sandpaper… Thoughts?
check my blog for an example on how i did it. scroll to the bottom of the first page.
I used a razor to pull the foam away from the shell about 1/2" around. Did a bunch of test fits and trimmed the visor. Then got some foam safe glue from one of the hobby lobby shops and installed it permanently. There is enough friction that i am sure it would have stayed without the glue.
OK. Checked out your blog. If you look at Vandevelde’s and then Contador’s from Castilla y Leon, theirs look much higher. Any idea on where they got theirs from? Louis Garneau says they’re no longer available without all the cutouts they have in them now. Any ideas on other sources?

Nice blog - liked your “ultimate fixe workout”. A bit too late for me - don’t think my youngest kid at 12 years will sit in the trailer… but fixie rides in long steep hills or realy strong headwinds olso demands some power.
Then my question: How is the visor in heat?
The Giro helmet without visor is perfect ventilated, I’ve used it in Malaysia and Kona - will the visor make it warmer?
its definitely a bit hotter, plus the vents are taped off and i’ve recently filled the under tail section to make it flush, so yeah its warm, but my longest TT’s are only 40k.
