Lets talk Politics

I have a serious question. Finding actual conversations in the lavender room is pretty difficult so i will ask the internet tough guys to mind there business and keep the comments for another thread. My Question:

If another group (Rep., dem., lib., and so on) had the best idea…Would you vote for them even tho its not your party association? Would you even admit it was a good idea?

I can vouch for Chainpin and Yahey, they would both definitely vote for the person with the idea that helped the country the most.

Yes, and I have done so in local elections. For example, I have always voted for (Dem) Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke. Love the guy and don’t care about his political party. There are a few other positions, again mostly local, for which I have done the same.

Thats awesome. In a political world where we take sides like some terrible west side story, its nice to hear other people are with me. It should be right and wrong not republican and democrat.

Yes, I haven’t voted for my party in a national election in 31 years. And have also voted for the other party in some local elections also.

Well, let’s see.

Trump hasn’t ruled out 2012 if nobody attractive surfaces.

Palin says she won’t run republican in 2012.

Ron Paul hasn’t ruled out a third party run .

I’d take a look at it.

I’m registered Republican, but have voted for libertarian and constitution party candidates. I might even consider a blue dog Democrat if the Republican was bad enough.

Yes, sadly however most them usually have pretty bad ideas.

You might want to consider changing your party affiliation if you haven’t voted for them in 31 years. Then you can also drop the meme, “I’ve been a registered for decades, but I can’t support them anymore!!” I have voted for the other party in local elections, and voted for Ahnold when he ran for governor (and moderates such as Tom Campbell). Sadly, the electorate has become so divided, even relatively moderate candidates have been forced to hew to the party line lest they get primaried out. (addendum, I’ve also voted 3rd party and independent as a protest vote when the election wasn’t close.)

tough call, since it’s often about the ‘least-worst’ candidate. there might be a guy whose environmental policies i really like, but whose health policies i don’t, so . . .
i guess eventually it depends on which ‘ideas’ are most important in determining who you vote for.

I’m in somewhat the opposite situation: a registered Libertarian, but have voted Republican from time to time, and in the 2008 election I voted for several Florida Democrats (and no Republicans) simply because the Florida GOP doesn’t recognize me as a full-fledged citizen.

A wise man, once said “voting is like asking you if you want the jerk or the dick. Either way it sucks.”

A wise man told you to vote on sucking and jerking his dick?
