In the amazingly bummed and defeated state I am in I really need to pep up so let’s talk about those little tiny things that make life sweet. I’ll start,
The burnt ends of a brisket. All that smoke trapped in a crunchy bite. Heaven.

That first sip of coffee on a dark, chilly morning.
It used to be the first drag on a cigarette in the morning.
Now its the runner’s high after a long run on a crisp autumn day.
Right after that last V02 max repeat is over…
When some internet personality who literally is a stranger tells you to HTFU when you’re feeling down. So in that spirit and with your best intentions I leave you with this:
HTFU Tibbsy it could be worse, you could be a catholic altar boy.
Boobs.
Edit: I still stick by that answer, but all the other posts are so serious, so I’ll throw in “swimming in the rain.” I love doing that - particularly in open water w/ no wind.
The unabashed joy our dog has when you come home from work. Or wake up, or enter the room, or give them bread crumbs.

-The $5 bill folded up and found when doing laundry. Did I just admit I do the laundry in my house? Crap! Now I’m depressed.
-The belly laughs from my two young daughters are the ultimate smile maker. Now I’m better ![]()

Finding a carton of chocolate ice cream in the freezer that you’d forgotten was there, with just enough left to satisfy your sweet/chocolate craving (last night was a good night).

This morning, running around like a maniac getting your kids ready for school (normal morning), and the middle school-aged kid jumps on the bike, and airily yells back, “bye, Dad, I love you.”

One of the best memories I have of my golden retriever is one Christmas I would give him a present of old wrapping paper that was just discarded after someone opened their present. I called my dog over and went through a big production of giving him a present and he was so excited, he was jumping up, wagging his tail and barking. He kept that paper for a few seconds before ripping into threads but the joy he received over receiving some paper was heart warming.
I did wrap a gift for him but it was nothing compared to the wrapping paper ![]()
