For the purposes of posting photos on Slowtwitch what are the best ways to quickly host a digital photo for display on this forum?
For the most control, if your ISP gives you online storage, upload the pics to there. Like this:

…for those of us without easy FTP acces then www.freepichosting.com does a good job.

I don’t understand. How do you reference the photo so it shows up on the page?

Click “Reply” and then look at the top right of the text box… there is a little icon of a picture frame with a mountain in it… click it and then paste in the URL of the photo.
Is that you?
I guess that only works on PC’s. I tried both Safari and Explorer and there is no icon. Is anyone with a MAC able to do that?
First you need to have the picture hosted somewhere on the web - simply having it on your hard drive won’t do. I like http://www.uploadimages.net and http://www.applepics.com myself, but there are a tonne of free hosting sites to choose from. Once you have uploaded the picture to a host, copy the URL of the picture. Using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your browser (anything else won’t work on here), and using the “advanced editor” in your forum options, click on the image of the picture just above the text box where you would normally type a post. Delete the http:// that appears in the box by default, and paste the URL of your hosted picture into the now blank text box. Click “ok” and you should see your picture in the body of your message.
Is that you?
Calm down, freestyle. This is not a dating service.
are you using the “advanced editor” option? Check the forum options in your profile to make sure you are.
I got no problems here with posting a pic on my Mac.
Is that you?
I’m no Tom D, but yeah… that’s me.
Well, Tom, someone here told me about http://www.imageshack.us/
Go to that website. There is a little box and you give it the name of the picture you want to “host”. You clik host, and it uploads it. It comes back with the address, which you had better copy somewhere or you won’t be able to find it ever again, as far as I know. You may need to go into your photo software and reduce the file size–there is a limit. Paste the address of the picture into the Address bar and hit “Go”. When the picture comes up, put your mouse on it (that is the thing that makes the pointer move on the screen, not the mouse in your pocket), right click and click “Copy”. Then go to the Post box here, and right click again, and click paste. This works with Internet Explorer. There may be easier ways but I don’t know them. If you can figure out Motionbasedwhatever, you can figure this out. After a few times it gets pretty easy. Do you have a picture of you and the-last-girl-who-dumped-you’s cats?
It’s good form to downsize the photos before you post…
on a windows machine this means opening the picture with paint
“save as” - and save it with a different filename so you don’t accidentally overwrite your large high quality photo with the small one…
then go to the “Image” menu and select “Stretch/Skew” and shrink it to 25 or 33% as neccesary.
cool…

.
First try…
Can other people see the picture above?
